Hullo ma wee blog,

Sitting at the computer sorting out some photo's and listening to some music - which I thought I'd share. It's a grand track but the accompanying video is a bit twee.

Worth a listen tho' and I do love this time of year. Sometimes I wish it could be 'forever Autumn'.

Oh my! I treated myself to a listening of the whole War of the Worlds CD recently for the first time in ages. Wonderful - Richard Burton and Phil Lynott's aprts are great! And this is one of the best tracks on it, without doubt. At times over the years, it has brought a wee teerie to my eye, but then, I'll cry at the most mawkish nonsense in any old film, so that's no measure of anything!! Thanks for posting it any - probably better listened to without watching that video!

Ah yes, Thunderchild and the Artilleryman. I purchased the cassette back in '77 or thereabouts when it came out. I was serving in the US Navy and would lay and listen to it in my bunk at night with my headphones. Great stuff; especially Forever Autumn. I also own the CD and listen to it occasionally but not as often as ought to.

Hi Kevin, thanks for stopping by. It was a seminal album for the collection wasn't it. Richard Burton's unmistakable tones and some good tracks made it quite an event. I saw the show staged live - including Justin Hayward - a few years ago and it was a great show.

I never knew there was a 30th anniversary tour but then it looks like it they never made it across the pond with it. I always assumed that the album was the soundtrack to a version of the movie but apparently it's not. Sad, because a movie with it as backing music could've been a hit. That would've been a DVD I'd buy.

It was a concept album but there was a British live staging about two years ago. It went on a UK wide tour but never went abroad as far as I know. It was very interesting with a small crew, lots of back projection and a huge blank talking head over the stage which was used to project Richard Burtons face onto so they could use his original voice over track.
